William B. Howell has practiced law in the State of Mississippi for more than 35 years. His undergraduate education was at Duke University and Millsaps College. He earned his Juris Doctorate at the Jackson School of Law (now the Mississippi College School of Law). Mr. Howell has studied comparative legal systems at Downing College of Cambridge University in England. He practices with the law firm of William B. Howell, Ltd. with offices in Ridgeland, Diamondhead, and Columbus, Mississippi.
Mr. Howell is a member of the National Academy of Elder Law Attorneys and is admitted to practice in all courts in the State of Mississippi, the Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals, and the United States Supreme Court. He is a long time board member of the Alzheimer's Association of Mississippi.

Mr. Howell has published numerous articles that address every legal issue affecting seniors and their families. He writes a column every month for the Metro Christian Living. He is the co-author of Guiding Those Left Behind in Mississippi, a book all about what happens after you pass away if you have done no planning at all. Mr. Howell is also the co-author of the 2009 Mississippi edition of Protecting your Assets from the Devastating Cost of Nursing Home Care, the most complete of its kind available. Additionally, he has prepared several booklets regarding legal matters such as Living Trust estate planning, Mississippi Medicaid planning, and what to do when the diagnosis is dementia. These booklets, and other printed materials, may be requested from our office free of charge.
Noted broadcaster and speaker
In his quest to educate people about estate planning and elder law, Mr. Howell has had a regular radio broadcast for more than eight years on WJNT News Talk | 1180 AM in Jackson. This very informative program airs every Tuesday morning at 8:35 am. Mr. Howell also regularly speaks to civic clubs, churches and other groups throughout the State of Mississippi regarding the planning needs of seniors and those they care about. Areas of practice
Mr. Howell concentrates his practice in asset protection and estate planning using Living Trusts to avoid probate and conservatorship, as well as long-term care planning through the use of Medicaid planning to avoid a family’s assets from all being lost to a nursing home stay.
